There are two types of Power of Attorney. A Health and Welfare Lasting Power of Attorney is to appoint someone you trust to act on your behalf to ensure you get the medical treatment you would want if you were unable to make decisions for yourself. A Financial Lasting Power of Attorney gives your appointed attorney the legal ability to control your finances.

No matter what age you are, if you have a bank account and bills to pay it’s advisable to appoint someone to act on your behalf with both Powers of Attorney. They can step in and act, on your behalf and in your best interests, should you become incapacitated.
